Thank you for supporting our mandatory mask wearing indoors for the past 6 weeks. While we do still have some sickness/covid among staff, it has reduced enough to be manageable.
From now on, masks will be ‘strongly recommended’ indoors for Y4-6 but not mandatory. Our usual advice of keeping your child at home if they are sick, and letting the school know if they, or someone in their household, have covid and they need to isolate, remains.
We will continue to monitor staff and learner sickness levels.

MANAAKITANGA
Is still the value of the day!
Sometimes, as you’ll know as parents and caregivers, it’s two steps forward and one step back. Last term, we made great headway with our school value manaakitanga.
Covid isolated a lot of our children during many months of formative school years, when time usually would have been spent with peers, practicing these important social skills. It’ll take strong boundaries and regular reminders to help them practice and learn them again.
We are starting to notice a slip in positive behaviour at school. Not in a significant manner, but enough to notice and potentially undo the work of last term. Consistent, patient reminders of what manaakitanga looks like, both at home and school, will help us work together to support all students show kindness and empathy for each other.
HOUSE POINTS
What are they for?
House points are our school-wide way of recognising students when they show manaakitanga in the classroom or playground.
House points are also awarded for school events.

Teacher Only Day
School Closed for instruction
FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBER
We have our 7th of 8 Teacher only Accord days coming up in 2 weeks. While we do understand these are not always convenient for whānau, we appreciate your support – we have chosen to keep them on a Friday to hopefully make it a little easier for whānau to take advantage of longer weekends, if they can.
This is the only term with 2. The last one will be in Term 4, date to be confirmed beginning of Term.
Make sure you never miss important school dates or events by downloading the school app ‘Kiwischools Connect’ and checking ‘Calendar’.
Left: Last language week [Cook Island], on the Friday, Coen and Hadia wearing clothes from their own cultures with pride: Dutch and Pakistan. Love it!
What will you wear this Friday?
